PRRAC Update (June 17, 2022): mobility funding campaign – and AFFH goes to OMB!

Housing mobility: The campaign for expanded Housing Choice Voucher funding and housing mobility services in the 2023 budget continues with a great letter to House and Senate appropriators – signed by a wide ranging group of national organizations. We are also seeking increased flexibility in the use of voucher funds to support security deposits and apartment holding fees – to remove some common barriers to families seeking to move to higher opportunity areas.

AFFH rule on the horizon: The website for the Office of Management and Budget indicates that the new proposed Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule was just received from HUD, which means – if everything goes without a hitch – that we should expect to see the proposed rule published a few months later, maybe even as early as September?

Housing research at the White House: We were pleased to learn that Vincent Reina, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania (and until recently a member of PRRAC’s Social Science Advisory Board), was appointed to the Domestic Policy Council as Senior Policy Advisor for Housing and Urban Policy.
