And Is It What Our Children Need Most in an Increasingly Diverse Society?” by Amy Stuart Wells, Teachers’ College (suggests a shift in education policy from a narrow focus on testing to a broader emphasis on inclusion and diversity, based on decades of research on the benefits of integration, as well as new research regarding parental values and beliefs).

Check out this interesting new report from the Joint Center for Political & Economic Studies and the E3 Network, Cooling the Planet, Clearing the Air: Climate Policy, Carbon Pricing, and Co-Benefits by James Boyce and Manuel Pastor – “Climate policy is very heavily focused on reducing carbon emissions. The same power plants and refineries that emit carbon, however, produce other pollutants that have immediate and direct impacts on the health of nearby residents. These point sources are often disproportionately located in low income and minority communities….” (we hope to see a renewed focus on climate change in the next four years, with an co-emphasis on environmental equity!)Housing and Health: New Opportunities for Dialogue and Action, from the Center for Housing Policy (along with the National Center for Healthy Housing, Trust for America’s Health, and ChangeLab Solutions) – provides excellent overview of the links between housing quality, neighborhood characteristics and health, reinforcing PRRAC’s call for a stronger emphasis on targeted child health interventions in the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
