Fair housing reflections in the new Poverty & Race: 

> “Inclusive Communities Financial Institutions,” the second of two articles from Betsy Julian seeking to reimagine future federal housing policy.
> “False Choices in Fair Housing Policy,” by John Henneberger, explores the simplistic “either/or” narrative that has come to dominate media accounts of the new HUD rule.

Building the movement for school integration:  We were proud to be part of an energizing two day conference last week in Washington, DC, “21st Century School Integration: Building the Movement for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”  Over 300 advocates, organizers, parents, teachers, administrators, and government leaders came together around the shared goals of putting school integration firmly back on the national policy agenda, and making school integration work for children in integrated schools.  See the final program here.   Videos, powerpoints, readings, and other materials will posted soon at www.school-diversity.org. Special thanks to the Ford Foundation, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Hogan Lovells LLP and all the co-sponsoring organizations for their support of the conference.

Transit Oriented Development and Fair Housing:  An excellent new report on TOD from Open Communities (IL) and the Center for Neighborhood Technology, “Quality of Life/[E]quality of Place” echoes some of the findings of a PRRAC report from earlier this year, “Equitable Transit-Oriented Development.”
 

Expanding Inclusionary Zoning:  A new policy brief from Cornerstone Development and the Lincoln Land Institute calls for a market-sensitive approach to find the best inclusionary zoning model for different regions and cities: “Creating and Maintaining Inclusive Communities” by Rick Jacobus.
