An NYU Furman Center study on LIHTC indicates that the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program serves a significant number of “extremely low income” (ELI) families. Although the LIHTC serves significantly fewer extremely low income families than Section 8 or public housing, a full 43% of LIHTC residents in the study’s large sample were ELI families.
